PALMDALE, Calif. (October 26, 2003) - - Subaru of America has signed as the title sponsor of the 2004 Subaru Rim of the World Rally, part of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) ProRally series.  Already a presenting sponsor for the last two years through its Western Regional offices, Subaru’s sponsorship marks the eighth year the manufacturer of world class, all-wheel drive vehicles partners with the Rim of the World Rally.  The title sponsorship again demonstrates Subaru’s continued commitment towards rally fans in the Western United States.

“Rim of the World is delighted to have our friends from Subaru back with us again for one of the most well known and toughest rally races held in North America,” said Ray Hocker, chairman of the Subaru Rim of the World Rally.  “Rim” is round 3 of the 2004 SCCA ProRally Championship.  “Subaru’s legendary all-wheel drive technology and its ‘Driven by What’s Inside’ marketing message are a natural fit for our event and our rally fans.” John Hubach, the region’s Fixed Operations Manager states, "Subaru is proud to be associated with "The Rim of The World Rally", as we feel it's the premier rally event on the West Coast.” Brent Gunderson, Subaru’s Western Region Marketing Manager adds, “The Rim provides Subaru a unique venue to showcase our performance strategy with our full-line of symmetrical AWD Vehicles, Parts and Accessories."

Next year’s Subaru Rim of the World Rally will be held on May 7~8, 2004 in the Palmdale / Lancaster region of Southern California, situated 40 minutes north of Los Angeles.  Privateer entrees along with factory-backed teams, including Subaru’s own race-prepped WRX rally cars, will face the treacherous terrain and rutted fire roads in the hills of California’s Angeles National Forest.  The televised 2003 event saw over 80 entries undertake the challenges of “The Rim,” and the 2004 rally promises to deliver even greater competition and gravel pounding excitement.
